IT'S TIME
After 5+ months of planning I'm finally packed and ready to go. I'm currently in the car on the way to springer mountain to start, and it's really surreal. Reality hasn't quite set in yet. In my mind I'm on a fun vacation in Atlanta. I did my final pack weigh in this morning! It's sitting at a comfortable 27.2 pounds with what feels like a generous amount of food. I meant to do a gear specific post, but I've been running around like a crazy person trying to prepare for the next 6 months, and didn't have time. As I approach the start of my hike I'd like to take a second to thank all of you again! If I haven't responded to your texts or calls it's because I've been incredibly busy, and I'm sorry! You've all been so understanding and I don't think I can express how grateful I am!

Special thanks to my friend Rob Cabello for housing me in Atlanta/ driving me to Springer/ being the most amazing host/ helping me pack and fit my bag this morning. Finding generous friends who also have amazing backpacking knowledge is rare, and I know we'll be friends for life!
The approach
In the final few minutes before I start I am feeling the craziest mix of emotions. I'm so excited to be starting such a massive adventure, but I'm also so sad to be leaving all of my friends and family. It's been a crazy few months of planning, but I know I'm ready, and that it'll al be worth it. I can't wait to update with stories about adventures! I love you all!
